Volunteer for the HBCU Research Symposium

Student, staff, and alumni volunteers are critical to the success of the HBCU Research Symposium. We welcome and appreciate all event volunteers!

Volunteers can sign up for as many shifts as they choose.

Note: Session Assistant Volunteers must be willing to attend a brief training prior to the Symposium.

The 2020 Symposium volunteer areas include: 

The Day before the Symposium:

Material preparation: Readying materials for Symposium Day

Pre-event setup: Setup easels, tables, etc. in preparation for the Big Day!

Friday, the day of the Symposium

General Assistants: Greeters, Poster Setup, Traffic Directors, Food and Beverage Station Attendants, Registration Support, Signage, etc.

Tear down: Clean up and tear down the event.

Oral Presentation Session Assistants: Take a fun, important and active role in assisting Oral Presenters and Faculty Moderators with technical equipment, keeping time, etc. for oral presentations.

Visual Arts and Design Showcase Assistants: Enjoy art and design presentations while guiding Symposium attendees through the Visual Arts and Design Showcase in Odegaard Undergraduate Library.

Registration: Assistance in registering all presenters of the Undergraduate Research Symposium.
